RHS Garden WIsley is part of the Royal Horticultural Society and was formed when George Fergusson Wilson, who bought the land in 1878 and established it as an experimental garden. It was donated on his death in 1902 to the Royal Horticultural Society. It consists of 240 acres and is a popular place for local people to go to enjoy the flowers and to relax.
I was looking for a pleasant place to visit in this are when I decided to take a day off and not do so much sightseeing to give my feet and back a chance to recover from my hectic traveling.
The flower season was early this year, so I missed a lot of blooms by seeing this in July, but there were some flowers in bloom.
It was a hot day, so I stayed only a couple of hours, most of which was having a snack and watching some birds.
A couple of frolicking topiary rabbits.
A lot of palms and other tropical plants in the greenhouses.
This is a moorhen with her two little chicks. She and the father were picking up bits of food and giving it to the chicks. I sat on a bench and watched her for quite a while on this beautiful day.
I won't talk here about forgetting where I parked my rental car and having to get help to find it!
